The June Long Weekend usually sees Bundanoon invaded by dance enthusiasts from all over NSW and beyond for the Bundanoon DanceFest. The programme includes dance from Australia, England, Ireland, Scotland, America, and Europe and there are workshops all day and dances and balls in the evening all done to live music. This has been happening each year since 2011. Then with covidity there have been 3 years of cancellations.
This year the musicians have asked for a music weekend even if the dancing was not going ahead, and so in 2022 we have the Bundanoon Winter Sessions Weekend.
Some of the programmed events have a structure and a leader introducing some particular tunes and others are unstructured and flow with the musicians present. Club members are very welcome to come and listen to any of the sessions at the Club.
Local musicians are welcome to come and get a taste of the joy and camaraderie of session playing. There are some session where music reading helps and is encouraged, and others where the music has been internalised by the players. The organisers at Bush Traditions especially thank the Bundanoon Club for hosting the afternoon and evening events. Morning events are held in the Bundanoon Uniting Church Hall.
Tickets are reasonably priced at $20 for a day ticket and $40 for the weekend ticket. Most of the weekend takings will be for venue hire, so much of it will end up in the Club.
